I left my career in 2018 at the age of 43. Some call me retired; I say it’s an expression of my mid-life crisis.
My path to financial independence and early retirement was not particularly interesting: I routinely spent far less than I earned and saved and invested the rest.
I am currently enrolled as a full-time graduate student, where my biggest challenge is dodging the inevitable questions about what I plan to do when I graduate.
I started this blog in response to many readers of Financial Independence/Retire Early blogs. Existing blogs outline strategies for reaching financial independence and early retirement. In many cases, the bloggers end up building a new business around their blog. Due to their new income, they are not able to execute the post-retirement financial strategies they promote.
In this blog, I attempt to show real life applications of published strategies. Every person’s situation is unique, including mine. My post-FIRE strategy isn’t “pure”, but I hope some readers will find my experience useful.
